City of Mobile, Via seeking input on public transportation redesign

Last Updated: January 14, 2026By Tags:

Mobile, Ala. — Via, the City of Mobile’s new public transit provider, is inviting residents to share their feedback as the city works to redesign its public transportation system.

Via is seeking input from regular riders and all Mobilians to help shape a faster, easier, and more reliable transit network that is set to launch in summer 2026. Residents are encouraged to complete the Mobile’s Transit Future Survey to share their experiences and feedback through January 31.

All responses will be kept confidential. This is a great way to provide feedback on the current services and routes offered through The Wave transit system and MoGo, and to share ideas and suggestions on how to improve public transportation in Mobile. Additional information about the planning process and opportunities for public engagement is available on the Mobile’s Transit Future website.

The City of Mobile selected Via to assume day-to-day operations of The Wave transit system, with operations beginning in October 2025. Working closely with Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis and other city leaders, Via is leading a community-driven effort to redesign Mobile’s public transit system.

The City of Mobile is committed to improving mobility and quality of life for city residents by creating a transit system that works for all Mobilians. Via brings experience working with more than 600 communities worldwide, using modern technology and smart operations to help cities strengthen public transportation systems and better serve riders.
