City of Mobile transitions website to .gov domain to enhance online security

Mobile, Ala. — The City of Mobile has transitioned its website to a .gov domain, strengthening cybersecurity and making it easier for residents to identify and access official information online. The City’s website is now live at https://link.edgepilot.com/s/13e10b97/zlNgLFyHYUC4Wm8n93dQOA?u=http://www.cityofmobile.gov/.
The move to a .gov domain designates the City of Mobile’s website as a verified government platform. Restricted to authenticated government entities, .gov domains provide an added level of assurance that users are accessing accurate, secure information.
In addition to the website, the email addresses of city officials and city employees have also moved to the .gov domain, further enhancing security and consistency.

During a transition period, the previous .org website and city email addresses will continue to redirect users to a corresponding .gov address. This will help ensure citizens maintain uninterrupted access to city services while adjusting to the new web domain.

This transition reflects the City of Mobile’s continued commitment to improving digital services, protecting user information, and maintaining a secure and reliable online presence.
What this means for users
The City of Mobile’s Municipal Information Technology (MIT) Department and webhost have been working to prepare for this transition for several months, and it’s expected to be a rather seamless transition for the citizens who regularly use the city’s website and email system.
