Alabama Poppy Project

The Alabama Poppy Project offers a powerful Memorial Day tribute honoring fallen service members through thousands of handcrafted ceramic poppies displayed at the USS ALABAMA Battleship Memorial Park. Founded by artist Julianne Hansen and her family, the installation was inspired by the symbolic red poppies of “In Flanders Fields” and serves as both a public art display and a place of remembrance for military families across Alabama. Visitors can walk through the field of poppies, reflect on the sacrifices of veterans, and learn the stories behind many of the honored heroes represented in the exhibit.

Memorial Day Weekend at Downtown OWA

Downtown OWA is turning Memorial Day Weekend into a three-day celebration packed with live music, family-friendly activities, dining and entertainment. Guests can enjoy daytime attractions, evening performances, and a festive atmosphere throughout the property all weekend long.

Mobile County Parks Summer Movie Nights

Gulf Coast Chinese Lantern Festival at Bellingrath Gardens & Home

One of the Gulf Coast’s most visually stunning attractions continues this weekend as the Gulf Coast Chinese Lantern Festival lights up Bellingrath Gardens & Home. Visitors can walk through more than 40 handcrafted illuminated displays featuring towering lantern sculptures, interactive exhibits, and colorful scenes inspired by both Chinese tradition and Gulf Coast culture. The nighttime experience has quickly become one of the region’s must-see spring events for families, couples, and photographers alike.
