Mobile, Ala. — From its birth as part of a French colony in 1703, to its transition to Spanish, British and American control, Mobile has been a center for cultural exchange. Those cultural differences are what make the city special to this day, and the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD) is celebrating that history and the city’s enduring cultural diversity with a Community Glow Night on Friday, March 21.
The event, which will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hillsdale Community Center, will feature music, entertainment and dancing from many cultural backgrounds represented in the City of Mobile today. This vibrant showcase of talent will include stunning dances from seven different countries, other cultural displays, and will culminate in a parade of flags representing nearly two dozen nations.
Visitors will get the opportunity to feel like part of the celebration through the glow of colorful, lighted accessories and enjoy delicious offerings from a variety of food trucks. Come join MPRD for this illuminating event and celebrate the city’s legacy of cultural diversity.
