High School Applications are Open for FlightPath9 Through May 19, 2026
MOBILE, Ala. – Applications are now open for the High School FlightPath9 (FP9) program at Flight Works Alabama, offering students a direct pathway into aviation manufacturing careers. The application window is open through May 19, 2026.
FlightPath9 is designed to quip high school seniors and young adults with skills to launch a life-changing career in aviation.
What is FlightPath9?
FlightPath9 Alabama (FP9) is a Flight Works Alabama (FWA) pre-employment training program designed to prepare individuals for a position at Airbus’ U.S. Manufacturing Facility. Through FWA and Bishop State Community College, students will earn 18 credit hours and a Short Certificate in Aviation Manufacturing Technology.
In addition, students will earn multiple industry-recognized certificates in the following categories: Precision Measuring Instruments, Tools@Height, Mechanical and Electronic Torque, Multimeter, Precision Electrical Termination, and Structural Sheetmetal Assembly.
Who should apply?
If you are interested in becoming an Airbus apprentice at the Mobile Manufacturing site, then YOU SHOULD APPLY! Currently, there are two FlightPath9 programs:
- High School Students: Each year, 20-30 high school juniors will be selected to participate in the program during their senior year. Students will attend class two evenings each week for approximately 10 months. After successful completion of the FP9 program and high school graduation, students will become full-time apprentices at Airbus.
Applications for both programs are accepted in the spring of each year unless an additional class is offered during the year.
Before an official offer of employment from Airbus is granted, everyone must pass a drug test, background check and physical examination.
