City of Mobile now accepting applications for C251: Citizens Academy
Mobile, Ala. — Applications are now open for the seventh cohort of the City of Mobile’s C251: Citizens Academy, which will run from March 12 to April 16 this spring.
Since its establishment in 2021, this unique program has helped many Mobilians learn more about their city government and its departments directly from our team leaders. This is an excellent opportunity to become more informed and empowered about local government.
The C251: Citizens Academy is an engaging five-week program that provides residents with an in-depth look at City government through hands-on demonstrations, and presentations from senior members of the City of Mobile staff. It gives participants an inside look at how various departments function and encourages citizens to get more involved in the community. It also helps our staff get feedback directly from Mobilians who want to see our city move forward.
The application period for the next cohort of the C251: Citizens Academy opened on Sunday, Feb. 16, and applications will be accepted through Friday, March 7. Beginning March 12, weekly sessions will be held every Wednesday evening, with each session dedicated to a specific City of Mobile department. A graduation ceremony will be held on Wednesday, April 16.
The upcoming cohort will learn about the following departments: Legal and Community Affairs, Administrative Services, Neighborhood Development and Finance, Public Works and Public Safety. Space is limited, so interested Mobilians should register today.
