Canfor Reinvests in Mobile County Facility to Support Long-Term Growth
MOBILE, Ala. – New South Lumber Company, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canfor Southern Pine, Inc., is investing $10.5 million to expand operations at its Mobile County facility, a move that will retain more than 250 jobs and strengthen the region’s position in the forest products industry.
The company is adding a new dual path continuous dry kiln, a significant capital investment designed to increase drying capacity, improve operational efficiency and support future growth.
“This investment reinforces the company’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening its existing workforce and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the operation,” said Canfor Southern Pine Inc., President Lee Goodloe.
“Investments like this show why Mobile continues to attract and retain industry leaders,” said Bradley Byrne, president and CEO of the Mobile Chamber. “Canfor is building on a strong foundation here, and this expansion positions both the company and our region for continued growth in a highly competitive market.”
“Canfor’s continued investment reflects a strong vote of confidence in Mobile County’s workforce and business environment,” said Mobile County Commission President Connie Hudson. “This expansion not only supports more than 250 jobs, but also strengthens one of our core industries and positions Mobile County for continued growth and long-term success.”
Construction is scheduled to begin this month, with completion anticipated in June.
