Mobile, Ala. – Austal USA and the U.S. Army Mobile Recruiting Company formalized their partnership to support Soldiers and veterans through the Army’s Partnership for Your Success (PaYs) Program at a signing event today at the National Maritime Museum of the Gulf. PaYS is a nationwide initiative that helps Soldiers and veterans secure meaningful employment following their military service.

“Austal USA’s partnership with the U.S. Army in the PaYS program underscores the shared commitment to building a strong and skilled workforce that supports our Nation’s maritime industrial base (MIB),” stated Austal USA President Michelle Kruger. “Together, we are creating opportunities for talented individuals to join Austal USA and contribute to the innovation and excellence that define our shipbuilding operations. This collaboration highlights the value of teamwork between industry and the military in driving mission success and ensuring the readiness of our fleet.”

Established over 25 years ago, the PaYS Program connects Soldiers—whether they serve on active duty, in the Army Reserve, or in the Army National Guard—with employers who recognize the value of their discipline, training, and leadership experience. Soldiers are eligible to participate in the program at the time of their enlistment and are guaranteed interviews with their selected partners upon completion of their service, provided job vacancies exist, and qualifications are met.

The event also included a Soldier swear-in ceremony where five local men and women committed to serving their country by enlisting in the U.S. Army.

Austal USA has a workforce of 3,200 strong at its Mobile shipyard.  With over one million square feet of indoor manufacturing space, the company is continuing to expand its facilities and workforce to support the growing demand of the MIB with the construction of a new assembly bay which will enable the erection of large steel modules for Navy and Coast Guard ships. This infrastructure expansion project will provide over 192,000 square feet of new covered manufacturing space The new building, Final Assembly 2, includes a new ship lift and will be fully operational in 2027.
