Applications now open for fall 2026 C251: Citizens Academy
Mobile, Ala. — If you want a behind-the-scenes look at your city government, applications are now open for the tenth cohort of the City of Mobile’s C251: Citizens Academy.
Launched in 2021, C251: Citizens Academy gives Mobilians an inside look at city government and how local leaders make decisions and set priorities. During the six-week program, participants engage directly with department heads and senior city staff through tours, demonstrations, and interactive presentations that highlight the services and operations shaping daily life in Mobile.
“The C251: Citizens Academy is an outstanding program, and it’s encouraging to see so many citizens engaged and eager to learn more about what’s happening across our incredible city,” Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said. “I’m grateful to our Community Affairs Department for creating a program that opens the doors of city government and helps strengthen our direct engagement with Mobilians. I’m excited to see the program continue with Cohort 10 this fall.”
The C251 fall session will include weekly classes running from September 16, 2026, through October 21, 2026. Participants will engage with City leaders across a wide range of focus areas, including legal and community affairs, administrative services, neighborhood development, finance, public works, and public safety. The application window for the next cohort opens today and remains open through September 4, 2026.
The program is free, but space is limited to 50 participants, so apply today to reserve your spot. Applications and additional information are available at: https://link.edgepilot.com/x/ZT25DzytaW_K6oRYOHvQTY4?u=https://forms.office.com/g/bp7tAPtkPw
