Membership Matters Weekly Letter from the President: From Global Industry to Local Tradition

Last Updated: October 9, 2025By

Dear Mobile Chamber Members,

This week, Mobile is at the center of two remarkable events that showcase our city’s dynamic growth and rich cultural heritage.

Airbus Supplier Conference

More than 200 people, representing suppliers from around the world, traveled to Alabama this week for the Airbus supplier conference, which brought together key players in the global aerospace supply chain. These industry leaders represent companies from across the United States and international markets, all converging to engage in deep conversations with Airbus leadership about future supply chain optimization.

The discussions were strategic and far-reaching. Suppliers and Airbus executives are examining ways to enhance efficiency, strengthen partnerships and position the supply chain for future growth. These conversations will shape the future of aerospace manufacturing not just in Mobile, but globally, as decisions made here ripple through an industry that demands precision, innovation and reliability.

For Mobile, this conference represents a significant opportunity. When global suppliers gather here, they experience firsthand the advantages that make Mobile an ideal location for aerospace operations: our skilled workforce, strategic Gulf Coast location, robust infrastructure and pro-business environment. Many of these suppliers are seeing Alabama for the first time, and we’re confident they’re impressed by what our region offers.

We thank Airbus for allowing us to partner with them to tell the Airbus story in Mobile with their supply chain. This collaboration demonstrates the strong relationship between Airbus and the Mobile business community, a partnership built over years of shared success since the facility opened.

The Mobile Chamber looks forward to working with many of these companies as they consider expanding to the Mobile area. These relationships represent potential new investments, jobs and economic opportunities that will strengthen our region’s position as a premier aerospace hub and diversify our economic base.

Gulf Coast Challenge: A Community Celebration

As our business community welcomes global aerospace leaders, we’re also celebrating one of Mobile’s most exciting annual traditions, the Gulf Coast Challenge. Tomorrow at 4 p.m., Alabama A&M University will face Jackson State University at Ladd-Peebles Stadium for what promises to be an unforgettable showcase of HBCU football excellence.

The Gulf Coast Challenge represents far more than a game. It’s a celebration of education, culture and community that brings together students, alumni, families and business leaders from across the region. This year’s festivities have been underway all week, creating energy and excitement throughout Mobile.

The Mobile Chamber has been proud to support this event, including being one of the sponsors of Thursday evening’s business reception. These connections between our business community and educational institutions strengthen Mobile’s economic fabric while celebrating the rich traditions of historically Black colleges and universities.

Week of Activities

The Gulf Coast Challenge week has featured numerous opportunities for engagement. Yesterday, the GCC College and Career Fair was held at the Mobile Convention Center, connecting students with potential employers and career pathways.

We invite all Chamber members and the broader Mobile community to participate in tomorrow’s festivities starting with the Gulf Coast Challenge Parade in downtown Mobile at 10 a.m. and then the game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.

Whether you’re cheering for the Bulldogs or the Tigers, you’ll witness outstanding athleticism, spirited marching bands, and the electric atmosphere that makes HBCU football special.

We’re building tomorrow’s economy while celebrating the institutions that educate tomorrow’s workforce.

We hope to see you at the parade and the game on Saturday. Go Bulldogs! Go Tigers! Go Mobile!
