Mobile, Ala. — The City of Mobile’s swimming pools, splash pads, and aquatic programs will officially open May 27 — offering a variety of fun ways to cool off and learn new skills this summer. With nearly a dozen pools and splash pads open across the community, there will be plenty of aquatic activities for Mobilians to enjoy this summer.

In addition to its standard aquatics facilities and programs, the Mobile Parks and Recreation Department (MPRD) will launch a new water safety program through a partnership with members of the Sigma Gamma Rho sorority. Residents with questions about the City of Mobile’s pools and splash pads should contact MPRD at (251) 208-1600.

You can learn more about MPRD’s aquatics offerings below and in the 2024 Summer Activity Guide: https://link.edgepilot.com/s/6fb2e13f/_vQ9TJOmOk2Jb0uqqFRnyA?u=https://www.cityofmobile.org/uploads/240513021916MPRDActivityGuide-Summer2024.pdf.

Splash Pads

MPRD splash pads are an excellent way to cool off during the warm weather. Each splash pad has a safe, rubberized surface, with fun fountain and spray features that are wheelchair accessible. Proper swimwear is required to use the splash pad, and infants and toddlers MUST wear a swim diaper. Splash pads are open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through September 28, 2024.

Swim 1922 Water Safety Classes
This summer, MPRD is partnering with Sigma Gamma Rho sorority to offer a new course called Swim 1922. This swim safety program is taught across the country to help young people stay safe when swimming in pools, beaches, lakes, rivers, or anywhere there is water. Children ages 5 to 8 can participate for free! A full schedule is available at https://link.edgepilot.com/s/546ba571/DzsRroNzXE66MuoeqjXY7w?u=https://mprd.recdesk.com/Community/Program.
