MOBILE, Alabama – The four candidates running for Mayor of Mobile have agreed to debate, live in prime time, on WKRG News 5. The debate will take place Monday August 4, from 7pm-8pm and will be broadcast live on WKRG News 5 and on the WKRG+ App, as well as streamed live on WKRG.com and the WKRG Facebook page.

Former District Judge Spiro Cheriogotis, State Representative Barbara Drummond, County Commissioner Connie Hudson, and former Police Chief Paul Prine are vying for the seat currently held by Sandy Stimpson. Stimpson is not running for a fourth term in office.

WKRG News 5 Anchor Peter Albrecht will monitor the debate. Questions will be formulated by WKRG News 5 and submitted by viewers and the candidates themselves. Click here to submit questions.

Interest in the mayor’s race is intense as this is the first election in 20 years without an incumbent running. Election Day is August 26.  If no candidate receives a majority of votes, the top two vote getters will meet in a Runoff Election September 23.
