VISIT MOBILE CELEBRATES NATIONAL TRAVEL & TOURISM WEEK 2025
Mobile, Ala. (May 1, 2025) — Visit Mobile is excited to celebrate National Travel & Tourism Week, an annual tradition highlighting the U.S. travel community and tourism’s essential role in stimulating economic growth, cultivating vibrant communities, creating quality job opportunities, inspiring new businesses and elevating the quality of life for Americans every day.
“Destination development is rapidly producing positive changes in Mobile, and travel and tourism commerce is crucial to the success of these investments,” said David Clark, President & CEO of Visit Mobile. “Mobile’s economic impact from tourism continues to increase in multiple categories yearly, further validating the city’s consistent focus on tourism.”
According to data collected by the Alabama Tourism Department and the State of Alabama, nearly 3.5 million visitors traveled to Mobile in 2024, a 2.2% increase from the previous year. This represents the largest growth of major cities in the state. These visitors accounted for $1.9 billion in travel-related spending in Mobile, a 4.6% increase from 2023.
In 2024, nearly 23,500 jobs in Mobile were travel-related employment, a 4.3% increase from the previous year.
Clark also expressed his appreciation for Mobile’s elected officials and their support of tourism, including the new downtown airport, civic center arena complex and recent approval of the Tourism Improvement District, which will significantly enhance future tourism metrics. On Tuesday, May 6, at the regular meeting of the Mobile City Council, Mayor Sandy Stimpson will proclaim May 4 – 10, 2025, as National Travel and Tourism Week in the City of Mobile.
“We remain grateful for our industry partners and all who support our destination for connecting our amazing city and its visitors,” said Patty Kieffer, Senior Vice President of Visit Mobile. “Many thanks to Mobile’s hotel industry, as they continue to be innovative in their support.”
