Urology Associates Announces Addition of Three Outstanding Doctors

Urology Associates is pleased to announce the addition of three outstanding doctors to our medical team. All three of these bring a wealth of experience in Urology and a strong commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to our community.
Dr. Robert Helm is a highly skilled urologist with interest in treating all types of urologic conditions. He aims to provide individualized treatments for his patients with excellent service.

Dr. Helm was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. After attending Jesuit High School, he attended Louisiana State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
Following his undergraduate studies, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then completed his internship and Urology residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Helm is a proud member of numerous medical societies including the American Urological Association, the Southeastern Section of the AUA where he won the T. Leon Howard Competition, Medical Society of Mobile County, and Medical Association of the State of Alabama. Dr. Helm is excited to be practicing in Mobile and to be a part of the community while serving patients out of our Springhill Office.

Dr. Rachael Sherrer is a general urologist and sees patients in both Fairhope and Foley. She is proficient in treatment of a wide breadth of general urologic conditions, such as kidney stones, urologic malignancies, and benign prostatic hyperplasia including holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP).

Dr. Sherrer grew up in Selma, Alabama and completed her undergraduate education at The University of Alabama, where in addition to her pre-medical studies, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in art history. She graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa among numerous academic honors. She went on to obtain her medical degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham, where her academic and clinical excellence earned her membership in Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. After graduating from medical school, she completed her urology residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI where she received comprehensive training in urologic surgery. She earned the Ira Sisk Award twice during residency for outstanding performance on the urology In-Service Exam. She is a member of the American Urological Association and is board-eligible with the American Board of Urology.

She is thrilled for the opportunity to care for patients across Baldwin County, with focus on improving quality of life for her patients and helping them choose treatment options best suited to their individualized goals.
Dr. Sherrer will be serving patients in our Fairhope and Foley Offices.

Dr. David Thompson is a skilled urologist who treats a wide variety of adult urological conditions including special interests in endourology, benign prostate conditions, and men’s health.

Growing up in nearby Pensacola, Dr. Thompson is excited to be back on the Gulf Coast. He earned his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University then went on to obtain his medical degree from Louisiana State University in New Orleans. After graduation he completed his residency training in Urology at the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga where he also served as chief resident. During his chief year he was nominated for the Alper Humanitarian Award which is given to residents who exemplify integrity, compassion, and a passion for community service.

Dr. Thompson will be serving patients in our Fairhope and our new Bay Minette Office.
