Springhill Medical Welcomes Stephen E. Fischer as New Chief Financial Officer

Springhill Medical Center this month welcomed new Vice President/Chief Financial Officer Mr. Stephen E. Fischer.

Prior to this role, Mr. Fischer served as CEO and CFO at Escambia County Health Care Authority in Brewton, Ala. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American College of Healthcare Executives, and Healthcare Financial Management Association. He earned his master’s degree in Health Services in 2001 from Webster University. Mr. Fischer obtained his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Ball State University.

For more than three+ decades, Mr. Fischer has been responsible for multiple health systems’ strategic financial planning, complex health facility capital growth plans, financial turn-a-rounds, revenue cycle optimizations, and a multitude of information system conversions.
“Following an extensive search, Mr. Fischer’s exceptional experience and marked skills in the areas of finance efficiencies and strategic growth made him an excellent fit for the hospital,” said President/CEO Mr. Jeff St. Clair. “He has jumped right in to help us manage the intricacies of healthcare finance.”

He has extensive experience facilitating strong professional relations with healthcare leadership, healthcare boards, physicians, community leaders, third party payors, and government officials. In addition, Mr. Fischer maintains high standards for meeting technical healthcare compliance issues, as well as improving productivity efficiencies through the implementation of new technology, streamlined workflows, and improved contracts.

Mr. Fischer’s affiliations include the Santa Rosa County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee; American College of Healthcare Executives, the North Florida Chapter; Healthcare Financial Management Association, Florida Chapter.
