Small Business of the Year Finalist: Honest Air LLC

Last Updated: October 10, 2025By

For Honest Air LLC, integrity is more than part of the name. It is the heart of the business. Founded in 2015 by Nicholas Powe, the company started with one truck, one technician and one simple goal: to deliver reliable, honest HVAC service to families and businesses across the Gulf Coast.

From those early days, Powe built Honest Air on a foundation of transparency, craftsmanship and a promise to always do what is right. That commitment quickly earned the trust of customers, and the business began to grow through word of mouth and repeat clients who valued quality work done with integrity.

In 2018, Honest Air took its first big step by opening an office in Saraland, welcoming its first team members and expanding its reach throughout Mobile and Baldwin counties. Ten years later, the company has grown to a staff of 12 and a fleet of eight fully equipped service trucks, each one representing a decade of hard work and steady growth.

Now preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Honest Air is entering an exciting new chapter. The company recently purchased its first building, a milestone that marks its transition from a leased space to a permanent home. In 2025, Honest Air will debut a new logo, truck wraps and digital look as part of a companywide rebrand that reflects its forward momentum and growing regional presence.

“We have come a long way from that one truck, but our values have not changed. We still lead with honesty, reliability and doing what is right for every customer,” said Nicholas Powe, founder and owner, Honest Air LLC.

That same philosophy has guided Honest Air’s continued success. Over the past year, the company achieved a 45 percent increase in sales thanks to strong customer retention, service plans and expanding commercial contracts. With new licensing in Mississippi and plans for a second location, Honest Air is positioning itself for the next decade of growth across the Gulf Coast.

Beyond business success, Honest Air is deeply rooted in the community it serves. The company is an active member of the Mobile Chamber, Saraland Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mobile Home Builders Association, regularly participating in events, networking opportunities and initiatives that strengthen the local economy.

Honest Air also takes pride in supporting the next generation of skilled workers. Through the SWAT (Skilled Workforce Apprenticeship Training) Program, the company hires and trains entry-level technicians, giving them the tools to build stable, long-term careers in HVAC. Powe and his team also visit schools, career fairs and youth events to promote the value of trades and inspire future technicians.

“We want young people to see that the trades can offer meaningful, lifelong careers. HVAC is more than a job. It is a service that truly helps people,” said Powe.

Honest Air’s community spirit extends even further. The company regularly sponsors school fundraisers, supports local churches and donates both time and resources to neighborhood causes.

That dedication has not gone unnoticed. Honest Air received the Eagle Award in 2023 for excellence in service and community impact, and this year, Powe was recognized as one of the Gulf Coast’s 40 Under 40 honorees for his leadership and entrepreneurial vision.

From a single truck to a multistate operation, Honest Air LLC has built its success on honesty, hard work and heart, proving that when integrity drives your business, everything else falls into place.
