Award estimated value of $12.2 million over five years for vessels operating in El Salvador, the Philippines

Theodore, Ala. (Oct. 14, 2026) – The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Program has awarded two projects to aluminum workboat builder Silver Ships, Inc. The two projects will support foreign militaries in El Salvador and the Philippines.

The first FMS Delivery Order has been awarded for four boats and accessories for El Salvador, totaling $2,664,994. The total estimated value of the El Salvador FMS Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) over five years is $10,539,908 for a maximum total of 16 boats. The selected vessel is Silver Ships’ center console AM1100, which will be equipped to support a mission profile that is comparable to USCG multi-mission small patrol craft. The vessels will be configured to support counter-illicit drug trafficking, coastal and intracoastal security patrols and search and rescue (SAR) operations. The AM1100 vessels will feature a weapons mount and lockers, Furuno navigation package, shock mitigating seating and a trailer provided by Gulf Coast Trailers, plus advanced lighting and communications equipment.

A second FMS project was awarded for four boats for the Republic of the Philippines in the amount of $1,664,911. The selected vessel is Silver Ships’ Freedom 26, which will be equipped to support transport of equipment and personnel to visiting ships requiring maintenance assistance. The Freedom 26 is designed for strength, durability, speed and safety, and these vessels will be outfitted with Suzuki outboards, shock mitigating seating and the Raymarine Axiom2 Pro navigation suite, along with advanced lighting and communications equipment.

“We are excited to be involved in these new projects in support of the U.S. Coast Guard’s FMS program.  While we have had multiple Navy projects in the past, these are the first Coast Guard boats we will build to support foreign militaries serving in Coast Guard roles,” said Shawn Lobree, Silver Ships Director of Federal Programs. “The El Salvador vessels are based on our highly successful Special Purpose Craft, Law Enforcement (2nd generation) boats we are currently building for the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Philippines boats are based on another successful platform, our Freedom 26, which we have built for several law enforcement customers including the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.”

Silver Ships has been a trusted partner of the U.S. Military throughout the course of its 40-year history. In the past two years, Silver Ships has completed three U.S. Navy FMS projects for the Philippines (six 40-foot Riverine Patrol Boats), Montenegro (four 43-foot Coastal Fast Response Boats) and Guatemala (three 43-foot Coastal Fast Response Boats).

The first vessels for both projects are expected to be delivered in late 2027.
