MOBILE, Ala. – On Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 1 to 5 pm, Mobile Museum of Art will host its annual Makers Market & Open House, featuring an artisan market, live music, food trucks, art activities, and free admission to the Museum.
“This annual celebration of creative local businesses and community is always one of the highlights of our programming calendar,” said Executive Director Jon Carfagno. “With our current exhibitions, there is truly something for every taste, and we look forward to welcoming visitors of all ages for a fun-filled afternoon.”
Vendors will offer a variety of handmade items, including jewelry, pottery, self-care products, and more. Jim Armstrong will provide live music, and tasty treats will be available from The Coffee Cart, frios, Holly Jolly Snow Cones, Louisi-Bama Cajun Cuisine, Royal Bites, and Shux Yall.
The Museum will also have galleries full of masterworks by renowned artists in special exhibitions, including:
  • Aminah Robinson: Journeys Home – Drawing upon Robinson’s historical research, folklore, and personal narrative, the exhibition presents a visual memoir of the artist’s life and a compelling tableau of the African American experience.
  • Louise Nevelson: Dawn to Dusk – Spanning Louise Nevelson’s career from 1929 to 1985, the exhibition traces the groundbreaking artist’s formative years to her emergence as a sculptor of international renown.
  • Handle with Care – A new interactive exhibition exploring the potential of what we take for granted. In this exhibition, artists Calder Kamin (Austin, TX) and Jacob Reptile (New Orleans, LA) transform trash into soft and complex sculptures to create a new kind of environment.
  • FOR CHILDREN – This newly renovated hands-on gallery is bigger and better than ever! Explore the elements of art through fun, interactive features like texture walls and exciting soundscapes. Don’t worry, all the favorites are still here, including the Lego room and the giant duck!
During the Open House, the whole family can gather in our Education Wing to make an art project inspired by the exhibitions currently on view at MMoA.
Admission to the Museum will be free all day in addition to the afternoon activities.
The Museum’s exhibitions and programs are supported by the City of Mobile, Mobile County, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
