Mobile Museum of Art Announces Free Admission Programs for Summer 2026

Last Updated: April 30, 2026By Tags:
MOBILE, Ala. – Continuing its mission to make world-class art accessible to everyone, Mobile Museum of Art will once again host its popular free admission initiatives for the summer 2026 season. These programs are designed to ensure that community members from all walks of life — from first responders and educators to families and service members — can find a place of inspiration at MMoA.
“Recently, we opened new exhibitions which range from an entirely interactive gallery filled with animals, plants, and mystical creatures made from recycled materials to a career spanning retrospective of Macarthur Genius Award winning artist Aminah Robinson,” said Executive Director Jon Carfagno. “We are so excited that our community will have the opportunity to experience these shows through our summer access program.”
Free Thursdays
A year-round favorite, Free Thursdays allows Mobile County residents to visit the Museum at no cost every Thursday with proof of residence. This program, which began in 2015, is generously supported by the Mobile County Commission.
Museums for All
Since April 2025, MMoA has been a proud member of Museums for All, a national initiative of the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), administered by the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM). The program provides free general admission to individuals receiving SNAP benefits. Up to four people per visit may enter free of charge with presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
Blue Star Museums
MMoA is once again participating in the Blue Star Museums program, which offers free admission to active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their families (up to four guests). While the national program runs through Labor Day, this offer is available at MMoA from Armed Forces Day (May 16, 2026) through our final operating day of the summer season, Saturday, September 5, 2026.
Free Admission for Teachers and First Responders
In appreciation of their service, MMoA will offer free summer admission to teachers and first responders — including fire, police, EMS personnel, and nurses — from May 1 through September 5, 2026. A valid school or institutional ID is required for entry. Each eligible guest may also bring up to four accompanying visitors.
The Museum’s exhibitions and programs are supported by the City of Mobile, Mobile County, the Alabama State Council on the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts. For more details, visit MobileMuseumofArt.com.
