Mobile Chamber Small Business of the Year Finalist: Personal Edge Fitness Inc.
For more than two decades, Personal Edge Fitness Inc. has redefined what it means to be well at every age, ability level and stage of life. Founded in 2000 and led by President Garrett Williamson, the company has earned a reputation for delivering science-backed, one-on-one fitness training with a distinctly personal touch. The company has grown into a leader in health and wellness, now serving clients from ages 3 to 99.
Its mission is bold and inspiring: to empower individuals to break through limitations and achieve their highest level of wellness. With every workout, program and coaching session, the Personal Edge team proves that neither age nor ability is a barrier to a healthy life. “We make YOU feel better about being YOURSELF,” Williamson said, a mantra that guides everything from client experience to community engagement.
What sets Personal Edge apart is its emphasis on education and consistency. Every exercise staff member holds at least a bachelor’s degree in fields such as exercise science and sports medicine. This dedication to professionalism enables the company to offer a wide range of specialized services, from strength and balance training to athlete development, senior fitness and medical rehabilitation.
Innovation has also played a key role. In 2024, Personal Edge launched two major initiatives:
- B3 Weight Loss Program – A groundbreaking, physician-supervised medical weight loss program combined with their proprietary, trademarked lifestyle change system, CATALYST™. This program addresses the root causes of weight gain and empowers sustainable, long-term change.
- Corporate Wellness – As the exclusive provider for Corporate Edge Wellness LLC, they now offer scalable, high-engagement wellness solutions for businesses, allowing us to serve both local and national clients in a corporate setting.
Beyond business, Personal Edge Fitness is deeply involved in the community. A member of the Mobile Chamber for nearly 20 years, the company joined the Chamber’s Board of Advisors in 2024. Williamson, a former president of the Rotary Club of Mobile, serves on the boards of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab Foundation and The Peninsula of Mobile, where he champions environmental and educational causes.
The team actively supports local organizations including Light of the Village, Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP) and Feeding the Gulf Coast through regular volunteer service. The company also partners with Save a Stray, hosting its mobile veterinary unit onsite and providing space and utilities for more than 100 low-cost spay and neuter procedures each week.
From personalized training to hands-on community service, Personal Edge Fitness Inc. continues to raise the bar for what small businesses can achieve. With deep roots in Mobile and a mission focused on wellness for all, this Small Business of the Year finalist is helping build a healthier and stronger community, one client at a time.
