MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Chamber is proud to recognize Hummingbird Ideas as a finalist for the 2025 Small Business of the Year award.
Hummingbird Ideas has long demonstrated what it means to be a thriving, purpose-driven small business in Mobile. With a clear mission to use their gifts and talents for the betterment of their clients, community and themselves, the team at Hummingbird continues to raise the bar for creative excellence and community engagement.
Founded more than 20 years ago, Hummingbird Ideas draws inspiration from its namesake, the Hummingbird train, which once connected New Orleans to Mobile and on to Louisville, Kentucky. Known for its sleek, streamlined diesel engine and the tiny yellow hummingbird painted on its side, the train was a perfect metaphor for the agency: small, powerful and friendly.
Hummingbird Ideas provides a wide range of marketing and advertising services including digital marketing, brand identity, website design and development, print, photography, signage, video production, environmental and promotional design, and media planning. Over the past few years, the company has seen consistent year-over-year growth, establishing itself as a trusted creative partner for businesses throughout the southern regional market with a strong emphasis on becoming the go-to agency for the Mobile business community.
An active and engaged Chamber member, Hummingbird Ideas has served on the Board of Advisors for five years and has been a Partners for Growth member for three. The company regularly participates in Chamber events and values visibility and relationship-building as essential elements of success. Their commitment to being “seen, known and recognized” in the community reflects their understanding of what it takes to build meaningful connections in business.
Beyond its client work, Hummingbird Ideas is deeply committed to giving back. Each year, they support several nonprofit organizations, offering pro bono services and reduced nonprofit rates to help mission-driven organizations extend their impact. In 2024 alone, Hummingbird partnered with the Downtown Mobile Alliance, Mobile Arts Council, Mobile Museum of Art, United Cerebral Palsy of Mobile and the Mobile Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
One standout community effort includes their work with SSIU Insurance on the Great Turkey Drive — a campaign that provided Christmas meals for nearly 600 families. Hummingbird not only donated turkeys but also designed, launched and funded a social media campaign to raise awareness and encourage donations.
The Mobile Chamber is proud to highlight Hummingbird Ideas as a Small Business of the Year finalist. Their creativity, generosity and commitment to both excellence and community is proof that small businesses can make a mighty impact.
