Mobile Chamber and MCPSS Connects 3,000 Students to Workforce Opportunities at 2026 Mobile County High School Career Fair
MOBILE, Ala. — Nearly 3,000 high school seniors gathered at the USA Mitchell Center for the 2026 Mobile County High School Career Fair, an annual event designed to connect students with their next steps after graduation.
Presented by the MCPSS Career Technical Education Department in partnership with the Mobile Chamber’s workforce development team, the fair brought together students from all 12 high schools in the Mobile County Public School System. The event is intentionally focused on helping students either secure employment after graduation or gain a clearer understanding of the education pathways needed for their desired careers.
“We want to make sure our seniors are aware of the opportunities available to them right here in the Mobile region,” said Mobile Chamber Director of Workforce Development Kellie Snodgrass. “Many students may have heard of a company name, but don’t fully understand the specific opportunities that the company offers or how many great jobs are available. We want to ensure that before they graduate and head into the world, they are well-informed and prepared for what comes next.”
Throughout the day, students engaged face-to-face with industry partners spanning a wide range of career fields. From healthcare and manufacturing to business and skilled trades, the fair offered a comprehensive look at opportunities available within the Mobile area and beyond. Many students attended with the goal of finding immediate employment, while others used the experience to ask employers what degrees or training would best position them for future success.
In addition to employers, local workforce training partners were on-site to support students exploring next steps. When students expressed interest in a company but lacked the necessary skills for entry-level roles, employers were able to connect them directly with training providers aligned to their industry needs. This created a seamless pathway from interest to training to career.
Preparation for the event began well before students stepped onto the floor. In the weeks leading up to the fair, seniors worked to build resumes, practice interviewing skills and develop a clearer understanding of their career interests. Many also researched participating companies, allowing for more meaningful and informed conversations during the event.
The result was a more confident and career-ready group of students equipped to make important decisions about their futures.
The Mobile Chamber’s workforce development team plays a key role in bridging the gap between education and industry. By partnering with MCPSS, the Chamber helps ensure students are not only aware of local career opportunities but are also prepared to pursue them.
Events like the Mobile County High School Career Fair highlight the importance of collaboration between schools, businesses and community organizations. By bringing these groups together under one roof, the initiative supports long-term workforce development while helping students take their first steps into the professional world.
As Mobile continues to grow, efforts like this ensure the region’s future workforce is informed, prepared and connected.
