MOBILE, Ala. (September 10, 2026) — In observance of Patriot Day, the Mobile Airport Authority (MAA), in partnership with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), will hold a remembrance ceremony Friday morning at Mobile Regional Airport to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The ceremony will bring together airport employees, TSA, first responders and members of the community to remember the 2,977 lives lost and honor the courage and service demonstrated in the wake of the attacks. The ceremony is open to the public, and community members are invited to attend.

At 7:46 a.m. Central Time, attendees will observe a moment of silence marking the exact time American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center 25 years ago. The ceremony will also include recognition of first responders and a ceremonial wreath placement.

“Twenty-five years later, there is now an entire generation that knows September 11 only through the stories we tell,” said Adam Hays, Acting Executive Director of the Mobile Airport Authority. “That makes it even more important that we continue to remember the lives lost, honor the courage and service we witnessed that day, and ensure their stories are never forgotten.”
