MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile County Health Department (MCHD) is enhancing how it connects with the community by increasing visibility of its Family Health services and public health initiatives through its mobile app and other communication platforms.

As community needs continue to evolve, MCHD is adapting its approach to ensure residents have timely access to important health information, resources, and services. This effort reflects a broader commitment to meeting people where they are and strengthening awareness of programs that support families and improve overall community health.

“Our goal is to make it easier for individuals and families to stay informed and connected to the services available to them,” said Dr. Kevin Michaels, Health Officer for Mobile County. “We are listening to our community and evolving our communication strategies to better reflect their needs.”

In the last 45 days, we promoted the ADPH community assessment survey through news releases and social media posts. Mobile County had 168 residents respond. A direct link to the survey was available on the front page of the smartphone app, making it easy for residents to share their input and help shape public health priorities.

Through expanded use of the MCHD app and other outreach channels, residents can expect increased updates on Family Health services, prevention programs, and key public health activities. This includes information on maternal and child health services, immunizations, wellness resources, and community-based initiatives.

The Mobile County Health Department app is available for download for free in the App Store and Google Play. It has been downloaded more than 6,400 times since its introduction.
