MOBILE, Ala. — The Gulf Coast Challenge, powered by the Mobile Sports Authority, is giving local students an opportunity to see what is possible beyond the classroom with the MAWSS College and Career Fair Presented by Spire Powered by Novelis.

The fair will take place Thursday, October 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mobile Convention Center, bringing together students, colleges, universities and career representatives for a day focused on education, workforce opportunities and the next steps toward a successful future.

Students will have the chance to connect directly with representatives from colleges and universities, learn about career paths, explore internship opportunities and ask questions about what it takes to reach their goals.

For Gulf Coast Challenge CEO Charly Duke, the experience is about more than simply handing students information, it is about helping them see themselves in opportunities they may not have considered before.

“We want our young people to understand that their future is bigger than what they see around them today,” said Charly Duke, CEO of the Gulf Coast Challenge. “This experience gives them an opportunity to meet people, ask questions and see firsthand the possibilities that are available to them. Whether a student is thinking about college, a career, an internship or another path, we want them to leave inspired and knowing that there are people and opportunities waiting for them.”

The College & Career Fair is a key part of the Gulf Coast Challenge, which celebrates HBCU culture, education, athletics and community throughout its week of events. The event also provides an opportunity for students to experience the HBCU community and learn more about institutions that can help shape their academic and professional futures.
