This year’s holiday theme pays tribute to the Historic Snowstorm of January 21, 2025

MOBILE, AL – Goodwill Gulf Coast is excited to announce the debut of the 2025 “Christmas on the Coast” ornaments for Mobile and Pensacola. These limited edition, gold-plated ornaments have become collector’s items for many Gulf Coast residents over the past three decades. The ornaments will go on sale beginning Saturday, November 1 at area Goodwill stores, participating vendors, and online.

Revenue generated from sales of the “Christmas on the Coast” ornaments allows Goodwill Gulf Coast to provide programs and services in our communities that educate and employ thousands of individuals with disabilities and other barriers to success each year. Programs include job training and placement services, as well as support programs for children, youth, and parents.

This year’s Mobile ornament honors the Historic Snowstorm of 2025 that turned the Gulf Coast into a winter wonderland on January 21 and shattered 130-year-old records for the most snowfall (7.5 inches) and the lowest daytime temperature (6º Fahrenheit) ever recorded in Mobile. The ornament depicts the Live Oaks over Government Street covered in snow while a family builds a snowman by the roadside. For this storm, the National Weather Service indicated that unusually cold and dry air, originating from the Arctic, collided with Gulf moisture, resulting in dry, fluffy snow that tended to accumulate. This type of powdery snow is more common in mountain areas than along the Gulf Coast.

This year’s Pensacola ornament pays tribute to the same snowstorm, which also broke 130-year-old records for the most snowfall (8.9 inches) and the coldest temperature (13º Fahrenheit) ever recorded in Pensacola. The ornament depicts the famous Pensacola Beach sign covered in snow, accompanied by a snowman and some seagulls.

Beginning Saturday, November 1, ornaments will be available for sale at Goodwill Gulf Coast retail stores and select Gulf Coast vendors in the Mobile and Pensacola areas, or online on the Goodwill Gulf Coast website (www.goodwillgulfcoast.org). The price is $20 per ornament with all proceeds going to support Goodwill Gulf Coast’s programs and services. In addition to the 2025 ornaments, a limited supply of ornaments from previous years also is available for purchase on the website.

Pensacola-area vendors this year are: Beré Jewelers; Joe Patti’s Seafood; Renfroe Pecan Company; Member’s First Credit Union; and the Goodwill stores in Pensacola, Pace, Ensley, and Fort Walton Beach.
