Gabriella Genereaux Joins WKRG News 5 as Sports Anchor/Reporter

MOBILE, Alabama – Gabriella Genereaux has been named Sports Anchor/Reporter for WKRG News 5. The announcement was made today by Jesse Grear, WKRG Vice President and General Manager.

“Gabriella brings her passion for covering sports to our team, and specifically her experience with the SEC, which matters so much to our viewers here on the Gulf Coast,” said Grear. “She’s a perfect addition to our most watched sports coverage, and I’m sure our viewers will agree.”

Genereaux joins WKRG Sports Director Gerhard Mathangani and Digital Video Producer Patrick Walsh.

Gabriella Genereaux holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Electronic Media from the University of Tennessee and has spent the last six years covering college athletics.

Growing up in a family full of athletes and sports fans, sports conversations were a natural part of daily life from an early age, fueling her lifelong passion for the industry. She began her career at the University of Tennessee with VFL Films and the SEC Network, serving as a sideline reporter, associate director, and timeout coordinator for live broadcasts, while also anchoring sports segments and reporting for The Volunteer Channel.

Most recently, she worked as a team reporter and content producer for Auburn Athletics—hosting podcasts, producing shows, conducting interviews with players and coaches, and sharing stories that connect fans to the heart of the program.

A recipient of the Courtney Lyle Endowment at the University of Tennessee for excellence in journalism, Gabriella is driven by a passion for authentic journalism and a deep connection to sports; she thrives on finding and sharing the untold stories that resonate with fans and strengthen community ties.

With one brother on the West Coast in San Diego and another on the East Coast in Virginia Beach, Gabriella is thrilled to complete the family coastal trifecta by heading to the Gulf Coast! In her free time, she enjoys watching sports, working out, playing pickleball, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
