Feeding the Gulf Coast to Benefit from Walmart and Sam’s Club 13th Annual ‘Fight Hunger. Spark Change.’ Campaign
In-store or online, shoppers can turn everyday purchases into support for local families facing hunger.
Mobile, AL– The 13th Annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign is underway at Walmart and Sam’s Club stores nationwide, including 77 locations across the Feeding the Gulf Coast service area. The goal of the campaign is to ensure neighbors facing hunger have access to the nutritious food they need to thrive.
Now through May 3, shoppers can support the campaign by purchasing participating products in stores or online at Walmart.com or SamsClub.com, or by making a donation at checkout in stores or clubs, through Walmart.com, or in the Walmart app. Each participating item purchased at Walmart sparks a $0.10 donation, and at Sam’s Club, a $0.50 donation, which stays local within the community where the purchase or donation was made, benefiting the food bank’s 24-county service area across South Mississippi, South Alabama, and the Florida Panhandle.
“Everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and too many households are working hard and still finding it more difficult to afford groceries,” said Michael Ledger, President and CEO of Feeding the Gulf Coast. “Across our service area, 1 in 6 individuals, including 1 in 4 children, face hunger. Each year, the Fight Hunger. Spark Change. campaign reminds us what is possible when neighbors support one another. We are grateful for the generosity of shoppers and for the continued partnership of Walmart and Sam’s Club, which helps strengthen our work every day.”
Over the past 12 years, this campaign has generated more than $2.5 million for Feeding the Gulf Coast and has helped secure more than 12.5 million meals for the food bank’s network of agency partners, such as food pantries and churches that distribute meals directly to neighbors facing hunger.
This campaign builds on a year-round partnership through the Retail Store Donation Program, which focuses on food rescue—the process of identifying wholesome, surplus food that was not sold and redirecting it through the food bank’s network to provide food for neighbors across our service area. In 2025, the partnership between Walmart, Sam’s Club, and Feeding the Gulf Coast successfully prevented 6.88 million wholesome meals from going to a landfill, avoiding 14,239 metric tons in CO2 emissions.
