CMA Group of the Year Award Winning Band from Alabama Films New Music Video on the Campus of the Alabama School of Math and Science

Mobile, Ala. – The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science (ASMS) was chosen as the backdrop for The Red Clay Strays’ brand new music video titled “Demons in Your Choir.” Members of the band are from Mobile County, AL where Alabama’s #1 Best Public High School – ASMS – is also located. The band filmed the video in the school’s historic auditorium dating back to the 1940s as the original Dauphin Way Baptist Church.

While on campus, the band hosted a live Q&A on the school’s “Nerd Alert” Podcast that is now live on YouTube and Spotify.

Band members also met with ASMS students, staff, and faculty for pictures and autographs.

At the 2025 CMA Awards, the band won Group of the Year over other notable music groups including Rascal Flats, Little Big Town, and Lady A. They were the first band to break Old Dominion’s five-year streak for the award.

“This was a historic day for our school and its students hosting a local band turned global phenomenon. We are so grateful to the Red Clay Strays for being gracious with their time and including our school in the production,” says Asia Frey, host of the school’s Nerd Alert podcast.

“Demons in Your Choir” is out now on all streaming platforms. Alabamians are encouraged to look for glimpses of ASMS and to watch the band Q&A on the school’s YouTube channel.

The Alabama School of Mathematics and Science is the state’s only fully public and residential high school for sophomores, juniors, and seniors seeking advanced studies in math, science, computer science, and the humanities. ASMS is a premier institution offering world-class learning, research, and leadership opportunities to Alabama students, empowering them to improve their community, state, and nation. Tuition, room, and board are free. Learn more at asms.net
