What inspired you to start your business, and what sets it apart from others in the industry?

Like many high school students, I wasn’t sure what path to take after graduation. Becoming a florist intrigued me, but I wanted to do something unique—something that truly stood out. That’s when the idea for Petal & Groove Flower Bar was born. With our signature flower truck, we bring a fresh and interactive experience to floral design, allowing guests to build their own bouquets straight from the back of a pickup truck.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned as a business owner?

Comparison is the thief of joy! Focusing on my own journey and celebrating small wins has been key to my growth.

How does your business engage with and contribute to the local community?

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. By partnering with other businesses, we strengthen connections, create new opportunities, and help foster a community where everyone thrives.

What does Black History Month mean to you, and how do you celebrate it as a business owner?

Black History Month is a time to honor the sacrifices, resilience, and achievements of those who came before me. It’s a reminder of the progress we’ve made and the work still to be done. I celebrate by supporting Black-owned businesses and sharing the stories that inspire me.

What advice would you give to aspiring minority entrepreneurs looking to start their own businesses?

Build a strong network—it will open doors to opportunities, mentorship, and resources. Be yourself, be kind, and stay true to your vision. Success follows when you uplift others along the way.

We do more than just bouquets! Petal & Groove Flower Bar offers arrangements, centerpieces, and private “Build Your Own Bouquet” events—perfect for staff gatherings, friend get-togethers, and family celebrations.
