ArcelorMittal Calvert partners with Boy & Girls Clubs of South Alabama to Launch Mt. Vernon Club

(Mt. Vernon, AL) ArcelorMittal Calvert and Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama (BGCSA) have announced a new partnership to support year-round youth programming at a newly established club location in Mt. Vernon. A $100,000 investment from ArcelorMittal Calvert will help fund consistent programming at the site located at 19180 Shepard Lake Rd E, Mt. Vernon, AL 36560, expanding access to youth services for children and families in the area.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, June 11, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a tour of the club facilities. Expected attendees include Mobile County Commissioner Merceria Ludgood, the Mt. Vernon Mayor, Mt. Vernon City Council members, the BGCSA Board Chairperson, and BGCSA Chief Executive Officer Jermaine West.

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening local support for children and teens in the Mt. Vernon community. ArcelorMittal Calvert’s contribution will help sustain academic support, mentoring, and enrichment programming throughout the year, and ensure the new location has the resources needed to serve families reliably over the long term.

“At ArcelorMittal Calvert, we know the future of our workforce starts right here in our communities,” said Chris Richards, Chief Executive Officer of ArcelorMittal Calvert. “Supporting the Boys & Girls Club in Mt. The investment also connects to ArcelorMittal Calvert’s broader focus on workforce development and community engagement. “Partnerships like this one with the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Alabama help create early exposure that can shape future career pathways,” said Kristen Mosley, Area Manager of Communications and Corporate Responsibility at

ArcelorMittal Calvert. “By supporting year-round programming in Mt. Vernon, we’re helping build a stronger foundation for the next generation—strengthening not only this community, but the future workforce our region depends on.”
