Fly High Goose Foundation Donates $10,000 to Support Technical Education Through the Goose Johnson Memorial Tool Scholarship
Bay Minette, AL – November 18, 2025 — The Fly High Goose Foundation (FHGF) announced a $10,000 donation to the Goose Johnson Memorial Tool Scholarship at South Georgia Technical College, supporting students enrolled in the THINK BIG program sponsored by Caterpillar and Thompson Tractor Company.
The scholarship was established in memory of Adrian “Goose” Johnson, a talented young man whose passion for mechanics and problem-solving was evident from an early age. Goose was enrolled in the THINK BIG program and just months away from graduation when he tragically passed away in 2019. The Fly High Goose Foundation created the scholarship fund to honor his legacy and help students pursuing technical careers, just as Goose had.
The THINK BIG program combines classroom instruction with hands-on training and a paid internship, preparing students for careers as Caterpillar technicians. Each year, the Fly High Goose Foundation awards tool scholarships to Thompson CAT graduates of the program to help them purchase the professional tools required to begin their careers.
“Technical education deserves to be celebrated and supported,” said a spokesperson for the Fly High Goose Foundation. “These students are the backbone of industries that keep our communities running. Goose was proud of his career choice with Thompson CAT, and we are honored to give back to the organization that saw his potential.”
The cost of professional tools can be a major barrier for new graduates entering the workforce. A single socket wrench can cost hundreds of dollars, and a fully equipped toolbox can reach thousands. The Foundation’s $10,000 donation will help ease that burden and empower more students to pursue skilled trade careers.
The Fly High Goose Foundation continues to inspire youth, give back to the community, and honor Goose’s legacy through outdoor outreach and educational support.
