USA Regional Autism Network offers free workshop on navigating life after high school

MOBILE, Alabama – The University of South Alabama Regional Autism Network (USARAN) is offering support for families with teens and young adults as they transition into the next stage of life.

On Thursday, Aug. 14, a free workshop will be held in Daphne at Christ Wesleyan Church from 9 a.m.-noon, and it will cover services to support the transition from high school, vocational skills, guardianship, supported decision-making and housing options.

The first of two sessions, “Life After High School,” will be presented by Andrea Mixson, a senior staff attorney, and Tammy Blue, a case advocate, both with the Alabama Disabilities Advocacy Program. Jordan Albright, Ph.D., with the University of South Alabama’s Department of Psychology, will lead a session titled “Planning for the Future.”
