The Mobile Chamber’s 2026 Primary Election Guide is a nonpartisan resource designed to help voters prepare for the upcoming primary, runoff (if necessary) and general elections.

This guide includes important dates, voting information and sample ballots to ensure voters are informed and ready to participate in the election process. These elections will shape leadership at the federal, state and local levels, impacting policies that influence economic growth, infrastructure, workforce development and quality of life across our region.

The Mobile Chamber does not endorse any specific candidate but is committed to equipping our community with the information needed to make informed decisions. We encourage all eligible voters to participate in the democratic process.

What to Know Before the 2026 Primary Election

The Primary Election is scheduled for May 19, 2026. Voters will select party nominees for federal, statewide and local races.

To win a primary outright, a candidate must receive the required majority of votes. If no candidate meets that threshold, a runoff election will be held between the top candidates.

A Primary Runoff Election, if necessary, will take place on June 16, 2026.

The General Election is scheduled for November 3, 2026.

Important Election Dates

Primary Election — May 19, 2026

  • May 4: Voter registration deadline
  • May 12: Last day to apply for an absentee ballot by mail
  • May 14: Last day to apply for an absentee ballot in person
  • May 18: Last day to hand-deliver absentee ballot
  • May 19: Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by noon

Primary Runoff Election (If Necessary) — June 16, 2026

  • May 29: Last day to hand-deliver voter registration
  • June 1: Last day to postmark voter registration forms and register electronically
  • June 9: Last day to apply for an absentee ballot by mail
  • June 11: Last day to apply for an absentee ballot in person
  • June 15: Last day to hand-deliver absentee ballot
  • June 16: Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by noon

General Election — November 3, 2026

  • October 19: Voter registration deadline
  • October 27: Last day to apply for an absentee ballot by mail
  • October 29: Last day to apply for an absentee ballot in person
  • November 2: Last day to hand-deliver an absentee ballot
  • November 3: Absentee ballots returned by mail must be received by noon
