THE MOBILE BAR ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICERS FOR 2024
Mobile, Ala. – The Mobile Bar Association (MBA) is pleased to announce its officers for 2024. The officer terms begin on January 1, 2024 and run through December 31, 2024.
Raymond L. Bell, Jr. is the Mobile Bar Association president. Bell earned his B.S. in Political Science in 1994 from the University of Montevallo and his J.D. from Jones School of Law in 1998. He is a Shareholder with the firm of Maynard Nexsen and practices in the areas of Governmental Relations and Regulatory Affairs. In addition to practicing law, Bell serves in multiple volunteer and community roles.
Judge Judson W. Wells, Sr. is the Mobile Bar Association president-elect. Judge Wells earned his B.S.in 1983 from the University of Alabama and his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1986. He is a Shareholder with the firm of Carr Allison and practices in the areas of labor and employment, professional liability, personal injury, worker’s compensation, and insurance claims. Judge Wells served as a Mobile County District Court judge from 1997 – 2007. He often serves as a mediator. In addition to practicing law, Judge Wells serves in multiple volunteer and community roles.
Mary Margaret Bailey is the Mobile Bar Association vice president. Bailey earned her B.A. from Rhodes College in 1987 and her J.D. from Cumberland Law School in 1994. She is a partner with the Frazer Greene law firm and practices in the area of civil defense litigation with an emphasis on appellate law. In addition to practicing law, Bailey serves in multiple volunteer and community roles.
Jenna J. York is the Mobile Bar Association secretary. York earned her B.S. from Troy University in 2016 and her J.D. from Cumberland Law School in 2019. York is with the Cunningham Bounds law firm and practices in the areas of automobile and trucking accidents, premises liability, products liability, industrial accidents, medical malpractice, and fraud. In addition to practicing law, York serves in multiple volunteer and community roles.
Brian K. Smithweck is the Mobile Bar Association treasurer. Smithweck earned his B.S. from the University of South Alabama in 2003 and his J.D. from Cumberland School of Law in 2010, and his LLM in Taxation from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2011. He is with Adams Reese law firm and practices in the areas of corporate, partnership and limited liability company planning, estate planning, probate, trusts and estates, mergers and acquisitions, tax planning and tax controversies.
Gordon G. Armstrong, III is the Mobile Bar Association assistant treasurer. Armstrong earned his B.A. from the University of Alabama in 1986 and his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1989. He is a solo practitioner and practices in the areas of federal and state criminal defense, general litigation, collection law, and personal injury.
The officers, along with the full executive committee, lead the Mobile Bar Association and its more than 1,000 members. The additional executive committee members include – R.
