Congressional leaders have released a package of six government funding bills that will prevent a federal government shutdown. The six funding bills focus on the departments of Agriculture, Interior, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Veterans Affairs, Justice, Commerce and Energy.

Congressman Jerry Carl included more than $11 million in funding for south Alabama:

• The Alabama State Port Authority – $5 million for improvements to McDuffie Coal Terminal
• D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital – $750,000 for hospital facility upgrades
• Mobile International Airport – $4 million for fire and rescue improvements
• Mobile County Water, Sewer and Fire Protection Authority – $1.25 million for water pipe replacement

The bills are expected to be introduced and voted on this week in the House before heading to the Senate.
