Small Business of the Year Finalist: Southern View Media
Congratulations to Southern View Media, a Mobile Chamber Small Business of the Year Finalist!
Founded in 2015, Southern View Media began as a vision to simplify the complex world of digital marketing, allowing local businesses to thrive with impactful, localized marketing strategies tailored to their needs.
This recognition reflects not only Southern View Media’s impact on the local business community but also their unwavering commitment to helping business owners make informed decisions that foster growth and success. Led by founder Michelle Murrill, who previously worked in a large media corporation, Southern View Media was born from a desire to bring jobs and resources back to the local community, creating a locally based team to support clients with firsthand expertise and commitment.
Michelle’s vision has since transformed Southern View Media into a trusted partner for small businesses, giving them access to industry-level marketing without sacrificing local insight and connection.
Today, Southern View Media has grown to a team of 16 full-time employees and offers a comprehensive suite of digital marketing services.
Their expertise spans:
- Website design and development
- Google Ads
- Search engine optimization (SEO)
- Social media strategy and management
- Content creation
- Branding
- Graphic design
- Social media ads (including Meta Ads, TikTok Ads and Snapchat Ads)
For every business they work with, the agency crafts individualized marketing strategies that bring a personal, effective approach to help clients meet their unique goals.
Southern View Media attributes its sustained growth to its strategic approach to staffing and culture. By focusing on “the right people in the right seats,” each team member is carefully selected not only for their skills but also for their alignment with the company’s values and culture. This commitment has cultivated a supportive environment where “a happy employee is a productive employee” serves as a core belief, creating a space where team members can excel and, in turn, drive client success.
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Southern View Media responded quickly, developing solutions that allowed clients to adapt to rapidly changing markets and ensuring business continuity for the agency itself. By maintaining open lines of communication, supporting clients through the transition and focusing on employee well-being, Southern View Media weathered the pandemic without layoffs and emerged stronger, experiencing substantial growth even through challenging times.
Southern View Media and its employees are deeply involved in the community, including active participation in the Mobile Chamber. CEO Michelle serves as a board member for Bras for A Cause Gulf Coast and as an ambassador for the Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, where she also organizes and produces the annual Eastern Shore Business Expo at the Fairhope Civic Center. Michelle is also on the board of the American Autism Society and in 2021 founded the Small Business Disaster Recovery Specialists in response to Hurricane Ida. This organization provides Gulf Coast small businesses with essential resources—including free marketing services, commercial-sized tarps, yard signs, chainsaws and business cards—to support disaster recovery efforts.
Southern View Media’s community commitment extends beyond Michelle’s leadership. Leigh serves on the Board of Advisors for the Mobile Chamber, the Board of Directors for the Southwest Mobile County Chamber, is the vice president of her BNI chapter and sits on the Mobile County Board of Advisors for Keesler Federal Credit Union. Olivia volunteers with Bright Academy and is the president of her local BNI chapter. Maria plays the flute in the Mobile Pops ensemble, Jonathan serves as the Praise & Worship Pastor of Hope Springs Church and Mari is actively involved in her community as well.
As a finalist for the Mobile Chamber’s Small Business of the Year Award, Southern View Media is honored to continue making an impact in the local community, supporting businesses in a way that goes beyond digital marketing alone. Their mission remains unwavering: to simplify digital marketing and empower local businesses, fueling growth that benefits the entire community.
