SLB OneSubsea and Primo Embark on Strategic Economic Development Project in Mobile County
MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Chamber is proud to announce a new investment in Mobile County with a collaborative economic development project between SLB OneSubsea and Primo.
This strategic partnership highlights the ongoing commitment of both companies to advancing the energy industry.
“The collaboration between OneSubsea and Primo highlights Mobile’s ability to attract global investment and foster innovation. This project strengthens our industrial base, supports critical supply chains for the energy sector, and creates new opportunities for economic growth in our community,” said Mobile Chamber President and CEO Bradley Byrne.
SLB OneSubsea is investing in a new 24,000-square-foot building at its facility at 7611 Lake Road South in Mobile to enable Primo to establish a Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) profile extrusion facility on site.
Primo, a Denmark-based global leader in plastic profile solutions, will supply PVC profiles for subsea cables—a key component of the OneSubsea Umbilical design. With a $5.8 million capital investment, Primo’s facility will create 12 new jobs in the region and further strengthen the industrial ecosystem supporting the oil and gas sector.
“This partnership with OneSubsea marks an important step in Primo’s expansion into the U.S. market. By establishing our plastic extrusion facility in Mobile, we are not only strengthening our collaboration with OneSubsea but also contributing to the region’s thriving industrial sector. We look forward to growing our presence here and creating new opportunities for innovation in the oil and gas industry,” said Primo CEO Claus Tønnesen.
This project underscores Mobile’s strategic focus on attracting foreign direct investments and fostering industrial co-locations with key suppliers.
Mobile County Commission President Merceria Ludgood said, “This collaboration between OneSubsea and Primo represents innovation in the energy sector and its supply chains. It also demonstrates Mobile County’s ability to attract multimillion-dollar international investments that positively impact our economy in the form of construction expenditures and new jobs.”
