MOBILE, Ala. – More than 700 business leaders attended the Mobile Chamber’s 187th Annual Meeting presented by BankPlus, held at the Mobile Cruise Terminal Thursday night. The Chamber’s program looked back at 2023’s accomplishments and recognized award recipients from throughout the year.

The Mobile Chamber also proudly announced two esteemed awards honoring individuals who exemplify extraordinary dedication and leadership in their respective fields, and who embody the spirit of innovation and community engagement.

 The Alfred F. Delchamps Award stands as a testament to individuals who emulate the visionary principles of Alfred Delchamps, a stalwart figure in Mobile’s progress and unity.

This prestigious award is reserved for those who demonstrate exceptional merit and celebrate the legacy of Fred’s leadership, characterized by gentleness, thoughtfulness and unwavering principles.

The 14th Alfred F. Delchamps Award was presented to Jocko Potts, President and CEO of PMT Publishing, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Mobile’s cultural and economic landscape.

From pioneering his alternative newspaper, The Azalea City News, and Inside Alabama Politics, Alabama’s number-one political publication for 25 years, to today’s Business Alabama Magazine and lifestyle publication, Mobile Bay Magazine, Potts has been a relentless advocate for Mobile and the state of Alabama.

Under his stewardship, PMT Publishing has expanded its footprint into the event space, pioneering initiatives such as Inspiration Homes and the EcoWild Outdoors Expo, a groundbreaking showcase of the Gulf Coast’s natural splendor and conservation efforts.
