Mobile Airport Authority Board Votes on New Executive Director
40-year Industry Veteran G. Anderson “Andy” Wilson to Lead Airport Authority’s Next Chapter
MOBILE, Ala. – The Mobile Airport Authority (MAA) proudly announces G. Anderson “Andy” Wilson as its next Executive Director. Wilson, a 40-year industry veteran, joins the Authority after serving as Director of Aviation at Hill International where he played an instrumental role in overseeing the organization’s implementation of innovative solutions like video analytics for passenger management.
“Andy Wilson is the ideal fit for the Mobile Airport Authority, having a well-regarded career spanning every aspect of airport management. He is no stranger to our organization and served as a consultant in the building of the Authority’s FAA-approved Master Plan. The Board is confident that Andy’s experience and relationships will add great value to the team as we take on this next phase of growth,” said Elliot Maisel, MAA Board Chairman. “We are excited to welcome him to the team and know that he will ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved in the project to build a new commercial terminal at Mobile International Airport.”
Wilson has strong roles across the aviation industry, including in the FAA and USDOT. From those interactions, Wilson brings with him significant relationships with commercial carriers, airport leadership, and a network of State and Federal personnel.
“Andy Wilson is an excellent choice to fill the Mobile Airport Authority Executive Director position. Andy was instrumental in forming the Master Plan and is very familiar with MAA’s assets, goals and initiatives,” Mayor Sandy Stimpson said. “Andy has extensive experience and strong relationships with federal personnel and commercial carriers across the airline industry. His background and familiarity with MAA will allow him to hit the ground running, and we look forward to working closely with him.”
Prior to his time at Hill International, Wilson served as the Chief Development Officer for Aerostar Airport Holdings from 2013-2017, Wilson oversaw the transition of Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), the first privatized U.S. airport, and implemented innovative solutions like video analytics for passenger management.
“After more than three decades working in airport administration, airline support, and consulting projects throughout the aviation industry, I could not be more excited to become the Mobile Airport Authority’s Executive Director,” said Wilson. “I have extensive experience setting up domestic and international airport projects across the United States and look forward to using that experience throughout the commercial air service relocation project at Mobile International Airport and its terminal expansion – and that is just the beginning! My long tenure in this industry tells me that the success of the airport relies on its impact on our travelers. We’re in this together, and I look forward to working with you all.”
Wilson begins his tenure as Executive Director effective immediately.
