Mindy Kirk named director of Women’s Services at Children’s & Women’s Hospital
MOBILE, Ala. – USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital named Mindy Kirk, M.S.N., RN, director of Women’s Services. The appointment was effective Feb. 25. In her new role, Kirk will oversee departments involved with women’s health, including general obstetrics and gynecology, high-risk obstetrics, labor and delivery and mother/baby. She also will oversee programs supporting improved patient outcomes. Within the mother/baby unit, more than 3,500 babies are delivered each year, more deliveries than at any other healthcare center in the region.
“In addition to years of valuable experience and mentoring from the University Hospital team, Mindy is extremely knowledgeable and kind, supporting the team goals of providing exceptional patient care and evidence-based practices,” said Vicki Curtis, M.S.N., RNC-OB, C-EFM, chief nursing officer at Children’s & Womens Hospital. “Our team is thrilled to have Mindy join us and look forward to her competence, compassion and leadership.”
A graduate of the University of South Alabama and the University of Mobile, Kirk joined the health system in 2007 as a staff nurse at University Hospital. In 2015, she was promoted to nurse manager for the trauma intensive care unit, where she has served for nine years.
Kirk earned a Master of Science degree in nursing from USA in 2018. During that time, she received the Outstanding Inductee Award for Graduate Students by the Zeta Gamma Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Society of Nursing. Previously, she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from USA in 2004.
Outside of the hospital, Kirk supports a variety of community agencies, including raising funds for the American Heart Association. She also has volunteered with Prodisee Pantry, Holloway Elementary School and the Area Agency on Aging. She is passionate about working in an academic health system. “I love seeing how we leverage leading-edge technology and research to deliver top-quality care to our patients,” she said.
