MOBILE, Ala. – Six local chambers of commerce from Mobile and Baldwin Counties in coordination with Coastal 150, announced a new initiative to give a coordinated regional voice to legislative priorities that impact the entire region.

The Coastal Business Alliance is a nonpartisan, pro-business partnership to speak collaboratively on challenges unique to coastal Alabama and broaden the region’s influence at home, in Montgomery and around the state.

This alliance became a reality through open dialogue and collaboration between the seven organizations involved. Mobile Chamber President Bradley Byrne said, “Over the years, we have individually championed the causes that matter most to our local businesses and communities. However, we recognize that to truly influence change and address the challenges facing our region, we need to unite our efforts.”

The Coastal Business Alliance is built on shared values, a common vision, and a commitment to the prosperity of Baldwin and Mobile counties.

“When I came into the chamber six years ago, I often wondered why we weren’t doing more to work together to benefit our community,” said Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce President Casey Williams. “Mobile Bay washes both shores. So, it’s very important that we work together to take care of the quality of life that we hold so dear.”

The Coastal Business Alliance will focus on key initiatives that directly impact our business community.

Coastal Alabama Partnership Executive Director Wiley Blankenship emphasized the need for the leaders of Mobile and Baldwin Counties to collaborate and coordinate on efforts to advocate for the coastal Alabama community together with one voice, “The port drives the economy greatly in the coast here. And then you have your tourism areas of our state. And all tourism areas, but our beach communities are the economic drivers in tourism in the state of Alabama. We need to make sure that their needs from a transportation standpoint and other needs are met also.”

The focus will be on engaging in targeted advocacy efforts that promote innovation, job creation and growth. The Coastal Business Alliance is a dynamic partnership that will speak with one voice, foster a business-friendly environment and drive positive legislative outcomes.
