Gulf Distributing’s Rebecca Maisel Named Chair of National Beer Wholesalers Association
MOBILE, Ala. – Gulf Distributing is pleased to announce that Senior Vice President of Legal and Government Affairs, Rebecca Maisel, will serve as the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) Chair of the Board. The appointment was announced on the main stage at NBWA’s 87th Annual Convention and Product Showcase in San Diego on October 1, 2024.
Maisel, who has served on the NBWA board for nine years, was previously the chair of NBWA’s Next Generation Group, bringing together emerging leaders in the beer distribution industry. As the Senior Vice President of Legal and Government Affairs at Gulf Distributing, she represents a third-generation family business based in Mobile, Alabama serving customers in Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.
“My grandmother, Freida Maisel, founded Gulf Distributing back in 1973, and I always knew I wanted to be a beer distributor and part of our family business,” said Chairwoman Maisel. “I am proud to take my family’s legacy of serving our industry to a national stage.”
Maisel, an attorney, joined Gulf Distributing 16 years ago and leads its government affairs, legal, human resources and organizational development efforts. She also previously served as chair of the Alabama Wholesale Beer Association and is an active member of the Beer Industry of Florida.
“We are thrilled to welcome Rebecca as Chair of the NBWA board. As we find ourselves at a critical time in the beer industry, Rebecca is the perfect person to navigate the complexity of today’s market, bringing 16 years—but really, a lifetime—of experience to this work,” said Craig Purser, President and CEO of the National Beer Wholesalers Association. “Rebecca will help lead our industry as we expand the category, provide resources to our members and advocate for our continued independence within the three- tier system.”
