Mobile, Ala. — To highlight the organizations working to prevent violent crime, the City of Mobile is bringing together stakeholders from across the community for a Peace Forum on Public Safety.

Following a recent deadly shooting, Councilman Cory Penn called for faith, community, education and government leaders to come together to address violence in Mobile. Working closely with Councilman Penn and leaders throughout the community, the City of Mobile has organized a Peace Forum on Public Safety for Saturday, January 13, 2024. This free, public event will take place in the auditorium at Mobile County Government Plaza (205 Government Street) from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The goal is for the event to be a catalyst for change as we continue to ask for the community’s help to address the kind of violence that leads to deadly outcomes. It will highlight some of the existing intervention programs led by the City of Mobile, the Mobile Police Department and other private and non-profit organizations working to make Mobile a safer and better place for all Mobilians.

Members of the public and the local media are invited to learn more about existing violence prevention efforts in Mobile and how they can get involved to help. Attendees will also have an opportunity to provide feedback and ideas on improving public safety throughout the City of Mobile. You can find a complete list of participating speakers below.
