AUSTAL USA’S 13TH ANNUAL CHARITY GOLF INVITATIONAL RAISES $224,000 FOR LOCAL CHARITIES
MOBILE, Ala. – Austal USA hosted our annual charity golf tournament last week. Representatives of over 80 firms from across the country came together to raise awareness and funds for local charities at our 13th annual Charity Golf Invitational. Over 300 golfers competed in the charity invitational at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile which raised $224,000 that was donated to five different local charities. Through this annual event, Austal USA and our partners have raised over $2.4 million for long-time event partner United Way of Southwest Alabama and other local charities within the last decade. The charity invitational is one of the many ways Austal USA gives back to the community whose enduring support has resulted in our success as a major defense contractor.
“It was amazing to see the outpouring of support for this event from so many of our industry partners at our golf invitational today,” Austal USA Vice President of Business Development and External Affairs Lawrence Ryder said. “Giving back to the community that has supported us for so many years is always a highlight of the year at Austal USA and it is very gratifying to see the impact this event has on so many people in the wider Mobile and Baldwin County areas.”
Recipients of the proceeds from this year’s event were United Way of Southwest Alabama; Penelope House, a shelter and advocacy center for victims of domestic violence and their children; Wilmer Hall Children’s Home, serving children and young adults through several programs that provide tutoring, on-campus living, and other tools needed to succeed; McKemie Place, a temporary housing shelter for women; and, Helping 2 Overcome (H2O), an adventure-based peer support program for veterans, active duty members, first responders, and their family members.
“Since 2022 the support of Austal USA and those that support this golf tournament has been a vital part of what we do here at Helping 2 Overcome,” commented U.S. Navy veteran Brandon Peters, H2O Adventure Based Peer Support Specialist / Lead Scuba Instructor. “Their continued support only further shows their dedication to helping, and improving the communities that they are a part of. From all of us at Vets Recover and the Helping 2 Overcome Program thank you doesn’t feel like it is enough, but we thank Austal USA and their industry partners for their continued support in helping us serve our military members and military families.”
Austal USA is grateful for this opportunity to bring everyone together to support these awesome causes in our community. We have already begun planning next year’s tournament, tentatively scheduled for March 14, 2025, and are looking forward to another successful charity event.
