MOBILE, Ala. – A strategic economic development project announced last year has reached a major milestone as Primo officially opened its new production facility at the SLB OneSubsea site in Mobile.

The new extrusion facility marks a significant step forward in Primo’s U.S. growth and strengthens Mobile’s role in supporting the global energy supply chain. What began as a temporary operation has evolved into a fully equipped, high-capacity manufacturing facility featuring eight advanced extrusion lines capable of producing PVC, PE and PP materials.

Located within the OneSubsea campus, the 24,000-square-foot facility was developed as part of a collaborative partnership between the two companies. Primo, a Denmark-based global leader in plastic profile solutions, is producing high-precision polymer profiles used in subsea cable systems—critical components designed to perform in extreme offshore environments.

The Mobile facility specializes in advanced products such as shaped fillers and hybrid armoring, supporting the complex needs of subsea cable manufacturers. The expansion enhances production capabilities while reinforcing supply chain efficiencies for offshore energy operations.

The project represents a $5.8 million investment and created 12 new jobs in Mobile County. It also aligns with the Chamber’s broader strategy to attract foreign direct investment and foster co-location opportunities that strengthen key industries.

With the facility now fully operational, Primo’s Mobile team has transition to full offshore production, further expanding its ability to serve customers worldwide.
