MOBILE, Ala. — The Alabama Women’s Commission will host a Regional Women’s Connection event in Mobile on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Mitchell Center on the campus of the University of South Alabama.

The event will feature keynote remarks from Dr. Agenia Walker Clark, President of Fisk University and the first African American young lady to attend St. Paul’s Epispocal School, who will speak on the strength, resilience, and leadership of women in Alabama. She will be weaving her personal journey and professional experiences into a broader conversation about the power of women to shape communities and drive change.

A native of Mobile, Dr. Clark brings a deeply personal perspective to the discussion. Her career spans nonprofit leadership, higher education, and executive service, including nearly two decades as a Girl Scouts CEO before becoming the 18th president of Fisk University. Her remarks will highlight how Alabama women’s experiences — from family and community leadership to professional and civic engagement — contribute to the state’s continued growth and resilience.

“This event is about celebrating women’s strength while creating space for connection and collaboration,” said Dr. Barbara Drummond, a Commissioner with the Alabama Women’s Commission who extended the invitation to Dr. Clark. “We want women to leave inspired, but also connected — aware of the resources, organizations, and networks that exist right here in our region.”

In addition to the keynote address, the event will provide opportunities for networking and dialogue, allowing attendees to connect with other women leaders, organizations, and advocates. Participants will be invited to share the issues impacting women in their communities and identify resources and partnerships that can support women across the Gulf Coast region. Information gathered from the event will help inform future initiatives and resource-sharing efforts by the Commission.

The Regional Women’s Connection series is part of the Alabama Women’s Commission’s ongoing commitment to engaging women across the state, amplifying their voices, and fostering collaboration among leaders, organizations, and communities.
