Mobile Arts Council Receives National Endowment for the Arts Grant to Support Exhibition Series
Mobile, AL—The Mobile Arts Council (MAC) is pleased to announce it is the recipient of an FY 2026 Grants for Arts Projects award of $18,000 from the National Endowment for the Arts. This funding will support three exhibitions in the organization’s yearly exhibition series.
“The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support opportunities across the country for Americans to experience and participate in the arts while celebrating our nation’s history,” said Mary Anne Carter, senior advisor at the National Endowment for the Arts. “As we approach our country’s 250th anniversary, this is a moment to recognize the important role the arts continue to play in our lives, communities, and heritage.”
Funding will support three exhibitions in Mobile Arts Council’s (MAC) 2026 exhibition series: Botanical Group Show curated by Derek Norman, Adrift and Flow by Cherie Peters and MAC’s Annual Members’ Show – We the People. MAC’s exhibitions not only showcase regional artistic talent but also foster dialogue, promote cultural appreciation, provide economic opportunities for artists, and promote well-being through the arts.
“We are honored to receive this $18,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in support of MAC’s Exhibition Series. This investment strengthens our ability to uplift local artists, expand access to the arts, and bring dynamic creative experiences to our community.” said MAC’s Executive Director, Angela Montgomery.
MAC has the only established community art gallery in Mobile, providing a vital space for artists and the public to connect through visual arts. Located in Room 1927, next to the historic Saenger Theatre, MAC’s 2,655-square-foot gallery hosts up to 20 exhibitions annually, featuring more than 350 local artists.
