Mobile County Seeks Public Input to Shape Safer Roads and Reduce Traffic Crashes

Last Updated: December 17, 2025By

MOBILE, Ala. – Mobile County leaders are asking residents, employees and visitors to take a few minutes to share their experiences on local roadways as part of a countywide effort to improve transportation safety and reduce serious crashes.

Mobile County and its municipalities have received a federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant to develop a Safety Action Plan, a comprehensive roadmap aimed at reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries across the region.

A key component of that plan is public input through a brief, anonymous online survey.

The need for a data-driven safety plan is significant. Between 2020 and 2024, Mobile County recorded 70,884 crashes on public roadways, including 347 fatal crashes and more than 1,300 crashes involving suspected serious injuries.

Thousands more crashes resulted in non-incapacitating or possible injuries, underscoring the widespread impact roadway safety has on families, businesses and daily commuters.

Local officials say the survey is designed to capture insights that data alone cannot provide, such as where residents feel unsafe, corridors with recurring issues and how people actually use local roads.

The survey is open to anyone who lives, works or travels in Mobile County, and responses are anonymous. Feedback will help shape recommendations for infrastructure improvements, policy changes and future funding priorities tied to roadway safety.

For businesses, safer roads mean more than fewer accidents. Improved transportation safety can support workforce reliability, freight movement, tourism and overall quality of life, all factors that influence economic growth and business retention in the region.

Community members are encouraged to participate by visiting bit.ly/MobileCountySS4A, where the survey can be completed in just a few minutes.
