MOBILE, Alabama (Nov. 21, 2025) — USA Health Providence Hospital’s radiology department has completed a major renovation and technology upgrade project, transforming six radiology rooms with the newest digital imaging technology to improve efficiency, safety, and image quality for patients and care teams.

“These new digital rooms allow our technologists to reduce radiation doses to our patients and staff, increase efficiency by more than 50%, and produce amazing image quality,” said Jack Lastorka, MHA, BSRS, RT, director of radiology at Providence Hospital.

Four rooms received complete remodels featuring Carestream digital technology and room revitalization. The $1.2 million project marks a significant investment in advanced diagnostic imaging and patient-centered care.

“This new technology is a significant leap forward for patient safety, quality, and efficiency of our care teams. This investment is another example of USA Health’s commitment to our community with the goal of helping patients lead longer, better lives,” said Rick Metzger, MMHC, BSN, CEO of Providence Hospital.

The upgrades reflect USA Health’s ongoing mission to bring academic-level medicine to the region and ensure patients have access to the most advanced imaging technology available. The project was completed recently, with all six upgraded rooms now fully operational.
